This sections highlights books printed with which we have been involved.
To date, the most significant book with which have been involved is the
1993 Shell Manual "Capillary Pressure and Saturation-Height Functions."
Thousands of copies of this book were printed for distribution to all
the petroleum engineers in the Shell Group worldwide. Our Principal Petrophysicist, Steve Adams
was the author responsible for the second, practical half of the book
detailing which saturation-height functions to use, how to create them,
their reconciliation with wireline logs and other applications of
capillary pressure data.
Fifteen years on, Steve Adams has increased his knowledge in the area of saturation-height modelling substantially, including deriving innovative techniques for modelling imbibition
in addition to drainage capillary pressure curves. The original book
was a "Shell Only" document, although substantial numbers of copies
have made their way to companies outside the Shell Group. Steve is
currently writing a new book using a "clean room" approach such that
the new volume will be available to all-comers. The book, provisonally
entitled "Capillary Pressures in Reservoir Description", is currently
planned to be available by 2009.
Steve Adams has also had a lot of experience with residual hydrocarbon
saturation definition using both core and in-situ measurements. A guide
to the core analyses to acquire, their interpretation and
interpretation of in-situ measurements will also be produced if enough
interest is shown. Please contact us if you would like such a document.
